History of the gallery
In 1988, Margarete and Wilfried Post founded the gallery in Rheinfelden near Basel under the name of KUNSTKABINETT POST. The gallery's focus was and still is on Modern Art of the early 20th century as well as contemporary art.
In 1996, the owners discovered ideal premises for a second branch in the Fischerau in the historical center of Freiburg. Here especially the segment of Modern Art came into focus. Their appreciation for the new branch lead to the decision to completely give up their former business in Rheinfelden.
Increasing need for more space, especially for contemporary art, was the main reason to open the broad premises in the Bromberghof for young artists in 2005.
Since then, KUNSTKABINETT POST and GALERIE POST presented different aspects of art and worked together on common tasks alongside each other.
In June 2009, both spheres of activity have been merged in the Bromberghof. The main goal has been to present Modern Art as an undivided unity. After more than 20 years in the history of the gallery it is now called POST FINE ARTS.
Since 2010, the gallery work has been extended in various way. Online presences led to international cross-linkings.
In 2011, art historian Katharina Post joined the team of the gallery.
POST FINE ARTS is in active collaboration with the gallery EMMANUEL POST in Berlin, which was founded
in 2004.
